It takes the Moon 29.5 days to complete a cycle of phases. This period is called the 'synodic month'. Starting with a full Moon, the phases after that are waning gibbous, last quarter, waning crescent, new Moon, waxing crescent, first quarter, waxing gibbous, then full again.
